Knitted Dishcloths

Now that the Texas heat is starting to set in, my need to find portable, mindless knitting projects has been fulfilled through dishcloths. Both cloths were knit with Lily Cotton Sugar'n Cream on size 7 needles. The basketweave pattern was taken from the Knit Dischloth Sampler. The multicolord cloth was taken from the DW Cloth pattern by knitting knonsense.

Knitting dishcloths is fast, easy and gives me an opportunity to practice on new techniques. A friend in my knitting meetup group is hooked on them. I guess her fascination has rubbed off on me a bit.

Tuesday Morning Treasure Trove

Everyone knows Tuesday Morning as the place to shop for home decor at a fairly reasonable price, it has also become the place to shop for quality yarn and notions at deeply discounted prices. I didn't need any more yarn to add to my stash but came across Quadro Print and Pagoda by Trendsetter Yarns, novelty yarn by Fiore and some New Boy by Fare Baruffa in 100% Lana Wool. I'm not sure what I'll create with these combinations but I love the spring colors.

I also snatched a $6 set of 14" Boye's Balene II Perfection Points knitting needles in size 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. I would definately suggest adding a pair of these needles to your collection. They are very flexible and light on your hands. Posted by Picasa

Secret Pal Revealed!

After all this time of receiving such wonderful gifts, I finally have an opportunity to formally thank my secret pal Lynette. Thank you so much for making my first secret pal exchange so awesome! My final package arrived a few weeks back (sorry for the delay in posting) and includes one hank of 100% wool (Lynette personally hand spun herself) for my first hand dyeing project--bring on the Kool Aid and Food Paste, 4 skeins of novelty yarn by Sasha Knitting Yarn in Fuschia, a huge Red Heart "pounder" skein in my favorite color purple (thanks, I can continue to display my "ghetto knitter" button with pride), 2 Sharffen Berger chocolate bars in Bittersweet and Extra Dark--yum (on a personal note, these didn't last very long after the photo was taken-delicious!), and Adagio's Valentine's loose leaf tea--the taste of chocolate covered strawberries in liquid form--we are friends for life now! You'll never get rid of me. I can't say it enough, thank you so much!

My SP7 spoilee was Amy. She is a serious sock knitter, which made my job easy. I had a great time sending her gifts and reading posts on her blog. She's made it one of her goals this year to complete a new book every week, and still knit too! And with all her goodies, I know she will live to knit socks another day! ;-)

Sailboats & Nautical Rope

This baby shower gift was finished within a week's time. Taken from Debbie Macomber's, The Shop on Blossom Street Knit Along book, it was double-knitted using Caron's Simply Soft 12 oz skeins of Berry Blue and White on size 11 needles. The border was knit on size 11 circulars with a yarn over increase to give the corners a lacy effect. I liked how quick this knit up and the seaming in the end wasn't such a beating.

I found a card with a nautical little boy's theme and included a rolodex card with care and handling instructions and some leftover yarn (I got that little tip from one of my knitting magazines). The mom-to-be loved it!
